Volunteer for Grantee Laughing Bear Bakery

Laughing Bear Bakery, another of our 2024-25 grantees, is a not-for-profit bakery that only hires ex-offenders and teaches them work skills while paying them a respectable salary. This reintegration program combats the biggest issue with men and women coming out of prison - the inability to find work which may cause them to reoffend and end up back in prison. At this volunteer event, we’ll be handing out samples during the bakery’s neighborhood outreach/fundraising event featuring music by local folk musician Jim Ford and poetry readings by Patti Pruitt, whose sentence for murder in 1984 was commuted in December 2024 by former Governor Mike Parsons. Funds raised will support adding a “farm style” door for walk-up customers and general operating funds. The SOS grant supports operations as well. Guests welcome.
