Mass Incarceration Event
March 15 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm CDT
Please join The Spirit of St. Louis Women’s Fund for an informative virtual event focused on Mass Incarceration.
Guest speaker Samantha Stangl will share her insights on the history and hidden system of oppression that is one of the most critical issues of our time.
Stangl will include an overview of the system, the impact on the community and the reforms happening in the St. Louis community. She spent three years working for the Clark-Fox Family Foundation working with stakeholders around the state of Missouri to pursue criminal justice reform.
Stangl currently works as the data analyst for Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell, helping to evaluate program and policy impact, manage partnerships with the community, and support overall office programming.
SOS Member Shawntelle Fisher, a formerly-incarcerated individual who founded The SoulFisher Ministries, a former SOS grantee, will also share her own experiences in the system and her contributions since returning to the community. Fisher will bring a recipient of The SoulFisher Ministries’ services to talk about the impact the agency has made on her life.
There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the event.
If possible, participants should watch the Netflix film “13th” before the event. The film provides excellent background and context to the topic of mass incarceration. It can be viewed on Netflix.
